Manx public delivers to charity again

The father of a Manx Royal Marine who was wounded in Afghanistan has been given a sizeable cheque on behalf of a charity which supports injured soldiers.

Derek Peters received ?6,500 for Help for Heroes, following the 'Trekking for Heroes' fundraiser, earlier this month.

More than 40 people and their horses took part in various sponsored events at Conrhenny.

Mr Peters' son Martin was hurt while on patrol in Helmand Province in July and is still receiving treatment.

'Trekking for Heroes' organiser Jane Bareham has been overwhelmed by the generosity of the Manx public, and says it's a cause people have taken to their hearts:
