by isleofman.com 29th October 2010

The Office of Fair Trading has issued an alert to electricians on the Island.

A potential safety risk from three brands of miniature circuit breakers, or MCBs, has been flagged-up.

The United Kingdom's main distributor of the Wylex, Crabtree Loadstar and Volex MCBs, says there is a small risk of burning in some installations.

The OFT is stressing the warning applies to the six, ten and 16 amp breakers only.

Electrium Sales Ltd says anyone who installed or purchased the products between April last year and February this year should get in touch for a free retro-fit of replacement parts.

The OFT says all the the work must be carried out by a qualified electician.

Electrium can contacted by emailing mcbexchange.co.uk/electrium or ringing 0844 556 4787.
