Fire and ambulance crews rescued a driver after a serious car crash near Glen Helen.

Two fire crews from Douglas and Kirk Michael and the enhanced rescue tender were called to the accident, at Sarah's Cottage.

A Vauxhall Corsa spun off the road on a bend and came to rest in the river beside the cottage.

The driver was freed from the wreckage and given first-aid at the scene, before being taken to hospital for treatment.

The badly damaged car was removed by the Fire and Rescue Service.

The accident happened at around 11.30pm on Wednesday.
