THE family of Jamie Haslett - the 19 year old from the Isle of Man who was killed in Sheffield yesterday - have thanked family and friends for their support.
Jamie, of Onchan, was run over by a police car in the early hours.
He is a former St Ninian's High School student and was studying at Sheffield Hallam University.
A statement has been issued via Isle of Man Constabulary which said the family has returned home to the Island and will not be making any statement to the media about Jamie's death at this time. The family has asked for the media to respect its privacy.
St Ninian's High School has paid tribute to the 19-year-old while Dudley Butt MLC, who is a political member of the Department of Education and Children, posted on social networking site Twitter: "A terrible day for a lovely family, RIP Jamie."
Friends have also put messages on Facebook.
