Phones, computers and booking system down at Steam Packet

by isleofman.com 28th October 2010

THE Isle of Man Steam Packet has problems with its phone, computers and online booking system.

This means there is no way of contacting the Steam Packet via phone or email or through the website.

A statement by the organisation said: "The company has engineers on-site and it is hoped the situation will be resolved soon.

"We will issue regular updates to keep the media and public informed as to developments.

"Passengers who have urgent enquiries should visit the Ferry Travel shop in the Sea Terminal. While staff will not be able to deal with any bookings until the system is back online they are there to offer advice and help in whatever way they can.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to passengers and will endeavour to have normal service resumed as quickly as possible."

It has been a bad week for the Steam Packet - last Saturday morning passengers due to travel from Douglas to Liverpool faced a wait of several hours, due to a technical problem on the Manannan fast craft, only for the sailing to be cancelled completely.

The times of today's (Thursdays) sailings to and from Liverpool on the Manannan had to be brought forward by three and a half hours due to adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile both the Manannan and the Snaefell have both suffered engine problems this year.
