Malarkey to monitor sickness levels

An MHK is warning staff could start to leave the civil service, if the current pressures on them increase.

South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey, who recently asked a question in Tynwald on sickness and stress levels among govenrment workers, is suggesting some people are already being asked to do too much.

He is particularly concerned about his own department - social care - and the Department of Health, which occupied the top two places in a 'sickness table' produced by the chief minister's office.

Mr Malarkey is vowing to keep a close eye on the situation, and says he will be asking the same question again early in the New Year:
