Teamwork will save ratepayers' money

Port Erin and Port St Mary are to team up to make emptying their bins more efficient.

A six-week trial will see one vehicle collecting refuse for both local authorities, in a bid to save money.

The Port St Mary bin wagon will be used because it has a bigger capacity.

Chairman of the Port Erin board Douglas Corkish says other local authorities considered the idea, but only the two in the far south have agreed to work together:
