THIS year's Bonfire Night celebrations are set to go with a bang with firework displays in Ramsey, Douglas and Port Erin.
Port Erin and Ramsey are holding displays on Friday, November 5. Fireworks will be let off at 7pm from Port Erin Harbour and 7.30pm from Mooragh Park in Ramsey.
The Douglas firework display will take place from 6.15pm on Douglas Promenades on Saturday, November 6.
Telecoms company Sure is sponsoring the Ramsey and Douglas displays, to coincide with the launch of its broadband internet service, and will also be holding two Guy competitions.
Children from the primary schools in Ramsey will produce their best paintings of the failed 17th century assassin Guy Fawkes for a chance to win.
All paintings will be displayed at the Town Hall Atrium from October 28 to November 5.
In Douglas members of the public are invited to put forward their Guy for the bonfire on Douglas beach.
Entries will be judged immediately by the Mayor of Douglas and representatives from Sure. The winner will get a £250 voucher and runners up will receive £100 and £50 vouchers.
Entrants should include their name and address with their Guy and submit it to an official at the bottom of Broadway between 4pm and 5.45pm on Saturday, November 6.
For the grand finale, if it is safe to do so, all Guys entered into the competition will be thrown into the bonfire.
Douglas Borough Council Leader David Christian said: "People have always enjoyed this annual competition put on by the Borough and we hope this year's will be extra special due to the support from Sure. We'd like to encourage everyone to enter and make this year really spectacular."
Isle of Man Railways will run additional services to coincide with the firework displays in Ramsey and Port Erin on November 5.
The Steam Railway will leave Douglas at 5.30pm to arrive in Port Erin at 6.30pm and will return at 9pm.
The Manx Electric Railway will leave Douglas at 5.35pm to arrive in Ramsey at 6.50pm and will return at 9pm.
David Cretney MHK, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said: "This is another great example of Isle of Man Railways supporting local events and utilising our great railway heritage."
Tickets are available from all main stations.
