Customer service courses for retail and hospitality sector

by isleofman.com 26th October 2010

A NEW course has been launched aimed at the hospitality and retail sectors in the Isle of Man.

TLC Business Solutions wants to help businesses in these sectors recognise the importance of giving good customer service to visitors and residents in the Island.

The course will focus on training staff who deal with customers both face to face and on the phone.

Topics will include telephone skills, the importance of the right attitude, behaviour and appearance and personal responsibility.

Sue Gee, TLC managing director, said: "While there's plenty of training available for career development there isn’t much for staff in hospitality and retail where they tend to have a high turnover of staff.

"In a customer facing role it's vital that staff have the motivation and skill to do a good job even if the work is short-term or temporary."

The course takes place over one and a half days and is offered at £100 – in order to give employers a high return for a low investment and minimum time away from the business.

Sue continued: "Using realistic scenarios followed by professional and constructive feedback people can make any mistakes in a safe environment and learn from them without consequence. You don't want that learning curve to take place with paying customers."

The first Customer Service for Hospitality and Retail course will run on November 8 and 9.

Courses take place at TLC's headquarters in Douglas and will run regularly to respond to demand.
