Joy for OSB in Prestatyn

by isleofman.com 25th October 2010

There was double delight for Onchan Silver Band at the 2010 Pontins Brass Band Championships in Prestatyn over the weekend.

Under the baton of Paul Dunderdale, they marked their debut in the competition with fourth place in the fourth section of the contest, securing ?500 prize money in the process.

The band produced a fine performance of Alan Fernie’s descriptive set work, ‘A Caledonian Journey’ in a class won by the national champions Hazel Grove.

And a successful first foray into national competition for the band was completed when nine year-old baritone player Greg Halliday won a trophy when he was named the youngest player.
