Cost of uniforms is revealed

The Department of Home Affairs has spent just under ?168,000 on uniforms for more than 600 of its staff over the last three years.

The figures were given in a written answer to a question from Onchan MHK Peter Karran in Tynwald this week.

Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw said the cost of keeping fire crews, police officers, the civil defence force and prison officers safe and smart was ?167,878 since 2007.

The average cost of a uniform to government during the period is around ?270.
