Pupils to honour local hero

The naval ties that link Arbory's church and school with Captain John Quilliam of Trafalgar fame will be marked tomorrow (Thursday).

Captain Quilliam, a lieutenant on Nelson's ship the Victory at the famous battle, is buried in the churchyard, and pupils will lay wreaths at his tomb.

Trafalgar Day will also be marked with the inaugural Quilliam lecture in Arbory Church.

Church warden Phil Smith hopes it will become an annual part of the commemorations:
