MEA reply was 'taken out of context'

The chief minister has confirmed he is 'quite happy' with the way the Manx Electricity Authority presents its accounts.

There was some concern during question time in Tynwald yesterday (Tuesday), when Tony Brown said he would ask the MEA to re-examine its accounting practices in relation to its retail outlets.

In the last financial year there was a deficit of more than ?400,000 between the turnover and operating costs of the shops, and Mr Brown had been asked whether he thought it was acceptable for that situation to continue.

However, he says his answer was taken out of context:
