Green a tough task for Cav in 2011

by isleofman.com 19th October 2010

The chances of Mark Cavendish taking the Green Jersey at next year's Tour de France look tough after the route was announced in Paris this morning.

There are only eight stages which should favour the sprinters as the event once again suits the climbers more.

The main feature of the 2011 edition will be the centenary celebration of the first passage through the Alps - the fearsome Alpe d'Huez finish is included.

After their first look at the route, most experts are saying Cav won't be able to rely on stage wins alone to claim the Green Jersey, and will have to change tactics and target some intermediate sprints.
