Full steam ahead for the Commonwealth Youth Games

THE Community, Culture and Leisure Minister has said that plans are progressing well for the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2011.

 

Following the return of the Island's Commonwealth Team from Delhi on Friday, October 15, David Cretney MHK said that he is looking forward to hosting the games.

 

He said: "We now look forward to when the Commonwealth Youth Games come to the Isle of Man in September 2011. Plans are progressing well and I know the whole Island will get behind this great event."

 

The Manx team equalled its best ever performance at this year's Commonwealth Games and secured two bronze medals.

 

Mark Christian took bronze in the 40km Points Cycling Race and Tim Kneale won bronze in the Double Trap shooting event.

 

The Minister continued: "The whole Manx team have been excellent ambassadors representing the Isle of Man on the world sporting stage. We are all very proud of their achievements. Welcome home and congratulations!"
