Gibb brothers the subject of Spielberg movie

by isleofman.com 18th October 2010

Three of the Island's most famous sons are to be given the Hollywood blockbuster treatment, with a movie by Steven Spielberg.

The two surviving members of the Bee Gees have been approached by the Oscar-winning director, who wants to make a film of their life story.

The movie will follow their rise to stardom, including their move to Australia and the death of Maurice Gibb in 2003.

On Sunday, both Robin and Barry Gibb told the United Kingdom press they would be involved in the technical side of the film.

All three brothers were born in Douglas, and Barry and Robin were at the town hall in July, 2009 when the Freedom of the Borough was conferred on the group.
