Engine part stolen from boat in Derbyhaven

by isleofman.com 18th October 2010

PART of an engine has been stolen from a boat moored in Derbyhaven bay.

The theft of the stern drive, from an 18ft Teal boat, happened between 2.30pm on Tuesday and 12.30pm on Wednesday.

It is believed the offender(s) would have used tools to remove the item from the Ford 1.8 diesel engine at the rear of the boat.

Police said unless the part has been taken as a direct replacement it will be useless as the drive shaft and gearbox for it are still with the boat.

The stern drive is white/grey, the swing arm has a weld mark from where it has been repaired and one of the blades is worn out.

Anyone with information should contact PC Lee Wright at Castletown Police Station on 822222 or ring the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
