The rate of inflation has gone up again.
It went up from 4.4 per cent to 4.7 per cent between August and September.
If housing costs are removed from the Retail Prices Index, the rate is even higher - increasing from 5 per cent to 5.3 per cent over the same period.
The biggest increases in the course of the past year have been in alcohol and tobacco, up 8.1 per cent and 9 per cent respectively, with motoring costs up 8.4 per cent.
Food costs have also risen significantly over the last 12 months showing a 6.9 per cent rise with milk and butter prices rising 25 per cent over the last year.
Fuel and light is also up 8 per cent and there's bad news for women this winter, clothing has gone up 6.3 per cent overall, but whilst men's clothing has gone up just 1.8 per cent, womens' have increased 10.1 per cent.
However, it's not all bad news. you should enjoy the great outdoors as gardening products have gone down in price by 3.5 per cent, or perhaps stay in and upgrade your hi-fi or TV, audio-visual goods are down 5.4 per cent.
