Motorists hit by three consecutive road closures on Richmond Hill

by isleofman.com 18th October 2010

MOTORISTS are set for more disruption on Richmond Hill after the Department of Infrastructure announced three consecutive weekend road closures.

The road will be closed on October 30 and 31, November 6 and 7, and November 13 and 14.

These weekend closures will allow the Department to complete the bulk earthmoving and landscaping work and to lay the final road wearing course which will be a major operation.

This will be followed by the installation of cat’s eyes and the application of white lane markings and road lining.

During the weekend closures, the A5 will be closed from Spring Valley roundabout to Mount Murray Back Road.

Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles and to businesses in the area which will remain open as usual.

Motorists should consider taking alternative routes during peak periods to avoid the inevitable traffic queues when the temporary signals are activated.

They are also advised to take additional care when driving on unfamiliar diversion routes.

The weekend closures are weather dependent and if they are affected by bad weather the Department may be forced to apply for a further weekend closure to complete the work.

Work on Richmond Hill is expected to be completed in December.
