Unemployment continues to fall

UNEMPLOYMENT in the Island stood at 748 people in September - a fall of 23 over the month.

 

During the month 276 people signed on and 299 people signed off and the unemployment rate is now 1.7 per cent.

 

Of the total unemployed 522 are men and 226 women.


A total of 713 vacancies were notified to the Job Centre during September and at the end of the month 335 positions were still vacant and held on file.

 

In August unemployment figures stood at 771 - a decrease of 51 from July.
