Care record system will come in soon

Plans to create an electronic store of key medical information on Isle of Man residents are in the final stages.

The Manx Emergency Care Record will provide information on patients' medication and allergies, in emergency situations.

Until now, paper records have been held in GP surgeries, but under the MECR system, health care staff will have access to the information at the click of a button.

Dr Iain Kewley is clinical adviser to the project and has worked in MEDS, the Manx Emerency Doctor Service.

He is confident it the MECR will prove very useful:
