by isleofman.com 16th October 2010

THE winner of a new knockout style photography competition run by Home Strategic has been announced.

Peter Cartmel won the title of "Home Run Digital Photographer of 2010" with a photo titled "Abandoned". He won £150 and a large canvas of his winning image.

The "Home Run" competition was a knockout style event with successful entrants progressing to the next round.

Each round had a new theme to test photographer’s abilities across a broad range of skills. Themes included places, animals, people and luxury items.

The competition was set up by Home Strategic after they were approached by a member of the Isle of Man Photographic Society - Ray Davies - who wanted to help, encourage and promote the great photographic talent in the Isle of Man.

The final of the competition was an open round between Peter Cartmel and Mark Stringer.

Both photographers entered three photographs of their choice and previous entrants and staff at Home Strategic cast their votes for their winning image.

Patricia Tutt also won the Designer's Choice award for her photograph "Kipper Shed Queue" - which was voted for by the creative team at Home Strategic.

The Home Run competition was open to the public and many entries came from the Island’s photographic societies. 42 entrants showcased their work in total.
