ISLE of Man Railways has reported a 15 per cent increase in passengers using the Snaefell Mountain Railway - compared to 2009.
More than 41,300 people enjoyed the railway this year and as a result plans are now in operation for improving the Summit Cafe's facilities and furnishings.
There are also plans to build on the success of the special events which took place this year including Pie in the Sky and the Snaefell Sunset Dinners.
David Cretney MHK, Community, Culture and Leisure Minister, said: "Passenger figures have increased and the stations have been a hub of activity.
"All three railways in the Island are unique and they are an important part of Manx heritage which we are lucky to have in the Island.
"The introduction of special events such as the Pie in the Sky, Sunset Dinners and the Hop-tu-Naa Ghost Trains provide visitors and residents with a great evening out which would not be possible without the railways."
The Snaefell Mountain Railway has now closed for the 2010 season.
