DOUGLAS cycle path has received a makeover to celebrate the 10:10:10 global campaign for climate change.
Staff from Britannia International volunteered to clear vegetation, dig drains and lay and flatten a base course.
It is hoped that the improvements made to the path, which runs alongside Douglas River, will encourage more people to walk or cycle between Douglas town centre and areas such as Pulrose, Anagh Coar, Farmhill and the NSC.
The path will also connect with the Heritage Trail to Peel.
Mark Beresford, Britannia International managing director, said: "To be involved in this type of project is not just about helping the environment but also our community. It is a great way of encouraging people to take up exercise and see parts of the Island that you wouldn't normally see.
"It's also a great way for the Britannia International staff to give something back to the community and it's fair to say we have had some fun along the way."
Staff will carry out more work this Sunday and the official opening of the path will take place on October 23 at 11am.
The Douglas cycle path project is collaboration between the Douglas Partnership Scheme, The One World Centre, Friends of the Earth, Transitition Isle of Man and Britannia International.
The 10:10:10 campaign is an initiative to get individuals, businesses and governments to pledge to reduce their carbon emissions by 10 per cent each year beginning in 2010.
