LVP calls meeting on ASSI

by isleofman.com 14th October 2010

There is to be another public meeting about the proposed Area of Special Scientific interest in Ramsey.

It has been organised by the Liberal Vannin Party which says it has organised the 'follow up' due to the huge number of people who attended the public meeting held on September 30.

The second meeting will be at the Mitre Hotel in Ramsey on November 8, two weeks after the closing date for the submission of responses to the original proposal for an ASSI in Ramsey Estuary.

There has been a consultation on making the area one of special scientific interest because of the valuable and rare nature of the habitat, and it's thought that by early next month the government will have released its findings on responses received following the original meeting.

However, some people are concerned the creation of such an area would stifle any potential marina project, and subsequent development in the town.

All interested parties are welcome to attend the meeting which will start at 8pm.
