A life sentence has been handed down to Simon Leece, for the murder of a builder who died in a fire in Demsense Road last year.
Thirty-five-year-old Leece has been ordered to serve a minimum of 21 years behind bars.
At the sentencing this morning, the court heard a series of aggravating factors - but little in the way of mitigation.
The court was told there was no evidence of any psychiatric illness or disorder.
Deemster Birkett said it was premeditated arson as Leece had bought the accelerant two weeks before the fires in March 2009 .
In addition, as an employee in a nursing home Leece had undergone safety training and knew that starting the fire in a stairwell would cause it to spread quickly.
On mitigation he had no previous convictions and an 'exemplary' work record.
But he still hadn't admitted responsibility or shown any remorse for the murder, and Deemster Birkett sentenced him to life for the murder of Mr Losh, with a stipulation he must serve a minimum term of 21 years.
Leece was also sentenced to 12 years for arson with intent to endanger life, and 8 years for arson, showing recklessness as to whether life would be endangered, both to run concurrently.
