Arrival of UK retailer could spell trouble - claim

A member of the House of Keys is calling on the Manx government to provide clear direction to the Isle of Man's retail sector, on a particular issue.

South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey will begin the process in Tynwald next week, amid concerns a major pet store may soon be moving to the Island.

Pets at Home was given planning permission to open at a unit on the Spring Valley Industrial Estate last year, and is now advertising for a store manager.

However, some local vets, kennel owners and pet shop managers are concerned the company's arrival will be bad news for their businesses:
