Pressure group given access to government notes

The Positive Action Group says its success in obtaining a copy of notes made by a Manx government representative at one of its meetings underlines the need for a Freedom of Information Bill in the Isle of Man.

Government media relations officer Alistair Ramsey attended a PAG meeting on the Children's Bill in March this year and was seen to be taking notes.

The group requested access to the material, but the application was refused by the chief secretary's office.

PAG contested the refusal, and had to follow a long procedure under the code of practice before the notes were made available.
