EDUCATION and Children's Minister Eddie Teare MHK and Paul Craine, the department's co-ordinating adviser for 11-19 education, will be heading to China next weekend.
They are guests of the Confucius Institute - an arm of the Chinese Government - and the trip will give them a chance to see first hand the education system as well as build links with government officials.
It should prove fascinating for both men visiting a culture very different from our own and to see an education system which Mr Teare says is more vocational-based than those in the Isle of Man and UK.
As well as giving Mr Teare and Mr Craine an insight into how the education system works the trip will be a chance to establish connections with the government.
Mr Teare said: "From a government perspective we would like to build up links with China."
The six-day visit is costing Isle of Man taxpayers very little. While it is £1,500 for the flights, the Chinese Government will be covering the accommodation.
