Taekwondo centre of excellence opens

The Isle of Man Taekwondo Association (IOMTKD) has opened its own training centre at the recently renovated Pinewood Complex in Pulrose.

The taekwondo gym contains a full-size matted Olympic ring and the association provides classes there Monday to Thursday and Saturday mornings.

The sport may be selected for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the association wants to build a team to represent the Island.

They will be sending a team to the European and World Championships in 2011.

New beginners classes are available with separate classes for 14s and over / adults and children aged 8-13.

Limited places available for the Manx Tiger Cubs classes- the Cheegyrs a class specifically for five to seven-year-olds.

All the instructors are internationally qualified and give their time for free.
