No indecision over prime site

Chief Minister Tony Brown says his leisure minister did the right thing in giving a developer a final chance to put forward plans for a leisure complex on the Summerland site.

At the end of last month, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure David Cretney announced the site would be sold, as no suitable leisure project had been found.

But days later, after an outcry the site would be used for apartments only, Mr Cretney gave developer GB Building Solutions more time to come back with revised proposals.

That led to accusations the government was 'flip-flopping' over what to do, but Mr Brown says that's not the case:
