by isleofman.com 29th September 2010

The Isle of Man's ever-growing local produce market has been recognised with the launch of a new award scheme.

The Manx Food and Drink Awards were launched by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture and local supermarket Shoprite at the recent Food and Drink Festival.

The competition is for businesses based on the Island and features several categories.

Shoprite chief executive Andrew Thomas hopes it will highlight the amazing quality of goods available (play audio file):

Entry forms are available from Shoprite's website manxshoprite.com or from the company's stores around the Island.

Entries close at the end of November and the winners will be announced in January.
