Mental Health Day to be marked in the Island

by isleofman.com 10th October 2010

Today (Sunday) is World Mental Health Day.

It's a global campaign to try and promote understanding about mental illnesses.

One-in-four people are expected to experience such a problem at some point in their lives, and while some will need medication for the rest of their lives, many can and do recover.

The Service Users Network in the Isle of Man is a charitable organisation which supports anyone who's had a mental health problem.

This Thursday and Friday they're holding workshop sessions with a guest speaker from Glasgow Mental Health talking about recovery.

Chair Lorraine Cowin says it's vital to talk about getting better.
