Police investigate arson attack at business park

by isleofman.com 9th October 2010

POLICE are investigating after a trailer of rubbish was set on fire deliberately.

It happened overnight last night (Friday) outside Unit 1 on the Isle of Man Business Park in Braddan.

Investigating officer PC Alan Shimmin said: "This fire was accelerated by petrol and it could have proved hazardous to the arsonist.

"It was very fortunate that due to the direction of the wind a nearby parked vehicle and building did not sustain any damage.

"Although it is suspected to have been a targeted incident local businesses are asked to remain vigilant."

The fire was more or less out when discovered at 10am this morning but the fire service attended to ensure it was safe.

Anyone with information should ring Constable Shimmin at Braddan Police Station on 852999.
