A NEW project in the south of the Island has created a meeting place for all ages of the community and facilities for daytime use by various organisations.
The idea has been put together by the Ballasalla Community Partnership, consisting of members of the Department of Social Care, Department of Health, Department of Education, Malew Parish Commissioners, the Isle of Man Children’s Centre, British Red Cross, Ballasalla Primary School and the Isle of Man Constabulary.
The meeting place is described as an "intergenerational community house" and has been created at 25 Clagh Vane, Ballasalla.
A statement issued today said: "It will support and encourage social inclusion and give members of the community a place to meet up and pass on their skills and knowledge.
"It will also offer facilities to other organisations in the area wishing to use it during the day as well as providing youth services on Wednesday evenings."
The building has been provided by the Department of Social Care and financial assistance for the project has come from local companies and private individuals.
Social Care Minister Martyn Quayle MHK said: "This is a further good example of my department and government engaging with communities and the private and third sectors to deliver services locally."
