Minister 'firmly rejects' withdrawal of network

by isleofman.com 6th October 2010

Two MHKs who are pressing for the Island's new bus timetable to be scrapped have held further talks with the government minister responsible for the service.

North Douglas members John Houghton and Bill Henderson say they formally asked David Cretney to withdraw the network on the grounds of, what they call, 'the endemic problems' being experienced.

However, Mr Cretney firmly rejected the request, telling them improvements were gradually being accepted, and the department was receiving fewer complaints.

Following the meeting yesterday (Tuesday), the department is to write to 'certain parties' to provide further clarification in respect of services.

Meanwhile, discussions relating to the Willaston Estate, where Mr Houghton says the services have been 'decimated'. are to continue.
