THE National Sports Centre in Douglas has been rated "excellent" by the Quest quality scheme for sports and leisure facilities.
Every two years the NSC is independently assessed under the scheme and there are around 1,000 centres that participate across the British Isles.
The NSC, after a two day assessment, has been rated in the excellent category.
Community, Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney MHK said: "The rating of the NSC by Quest is a just reward for the NSC team who work tirelessly to ensure that the services provided are of the highest order.
"The award clearly demonstrates that the NSC is on a path of continuous improvement."
Centre manager Carl Glover added: "The Quest assessment covers 22 management competencies including customer care, programme development, financial management, environmental management and health and safety.
"During the two day assessment the assessor interviewed staff at all levels and also spoke to several customers. Part of the assessment includes an unannounced mystery visitor who used the facilities and produced an independent report on the quality of services provided."
Mr Cretney added: "The NSC sits at the heart of delivering sports services which are genuinely the envy of communities across the British Isles.
"Whilst awards are really nice and we are proud of the plaque on the wall, the real satisfaction is that our facilities and services genuinely do make a positive difference to people's lives. Well done to all of the NSC team."
