CHIEF Minister Tony Brown MHK has paid tribute to Sir Norman Wisdom.

Sir Norman died yesterday at Abbotswood Nursing Home, Ballasalla, at the age of 95.

Mr Brown said: "I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Sir Norman and I offer my sincere condolences to his family, friends and fans.

"We were very fortunate indeed that Sir Norman chose to make the Isle of Man his home.

"He was a wonderful asset to the local community and made a tremendous contribution to countless Island charities and good causes.

"I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Norman on numerous occasions and always enjoyed his company.

"He never failed to put a smile on people's faces with his infectious sense of humour.

"Behind the slapstick comedy he was a warm and caring person who went out of his way to help others.

"He will be missed by very many people from all walks of life within our community."
