Manx2.com opens competition to find Island school children to record aircraft safety videos

by isleofman.com 4th October 2010

LOCAL airline Manx2.com is holding a competition to find school children with the "Manx2 Factor".

The airline, in conjunction with the Department of Education and Children, is searching for school children to deliver the video safety briefings on their aircraft.

Winners will have their final videos professionally recorded and these safety messages will be used on approximately 20 flights each day.

Noel Hayes, chairman of Manx2.com, said: "With the recent introduction of large format video screens on our three Let 410 aircraft it was a perfect opportunity to approach the Department of Education and Children to find Isle of Man children to record the vital safety messages shown before each flight.

"Passenger safety is always our first priority and we hope that by producing a unique, unusual and entertaining video we will get the full attention of our passengers."

The competition is open to primary school children in years one to six who can read to a good standard.

Auditions will be held at participating primary schools and three boys and three girls will be selected ready for final judging, in late October, by representatives from Manx2.com and the DEC.

Potential entrants have until Friday, October 15, to register their interest with their head teacher.
