A MANX cheese has won a bronze medal at this year’s British Cheese Awards.
The Oak Smoked Mature Cheddar, made by the Isle of Man Creamery, won the award at the event which were held on Friday, September 24, in Cardiff.
Findlay Macleod, managing director of the Isle of Man Creamery, said: "This is fantastic news for the creamery.
"Winning a bronze medal at the British Cheese Awards is a tribute to the craft and dedication that our cheese makers put into making our range of award winning cheeses."
The British Cheese Awards were created in 1994. This year around 900 entries were recieved from 190 cheesemakers. The cheese was judged by a panel of 60 top industry experts including cheese buyers, journalists, chefs and food critics.
The Oak Smoked Mature Cheddar is naturally smoked over oak chips in a specially designed kiln. This traditional cold-smoking technique creates an evenly smoked and balanced flavour.
