Litter pick organisers hope for big turnout

by isleofman.com 3rd October 2010

There is still time to join the Big Tidy Up Challenge.

Douglas Borough Council is leading the all-Island environmental awareness campaign, which takes place this Friday and Saturday, October 8 and 9.

It's part of the United Kingdom-wide Big Tidy Up litter pick, organised by anti-litter campaigning body Keep Britain Tidy.

Leader of the council David Christian says there's been a good response so far, but he is hoping more organisations and individuals will get involved.

The litter-pick session is expected to last around two hours, and protective tabards, litter picks, gloves, brushes and bags will be provided by the council.

Volunteers can email pmacken@douglas.gov.im to register their interest.
