Shoppers help flood victims

by isleofman.com 29th September 2010

The recently formed charity UNICEF on Mann says it's delighted with the money raised during a collection for Pakistan on Saturday.

Almost ?1,400 was collected by volunteers shaking buckets along Strand Street.

Millions of people in Pakistan have been left homeless after the downpours in July and aid agencies are desperate for more money to help people rebuild their lives.

UNICEF on Mann has been set up to contribute to specific emergency appeals, directing funds through the organisation in the United Kingdom.

The group is thanking everybody who contributed to the cause in Pakistan, particularly an anonymous donor who approached volunteers during the collection and gave a very large sum.
