FOUR people have been invited to serve as Members on the Isle of Man Arts Council for the next four years.
David Cretney MHK, Minister for the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure, said: "The Arts Council plays a crucial role within the Department not only with its support of grass roots arts and community work but also with enhancing our quality of life through entertaining and sometimes thought provoking events."
Dr Breesha Maddrell has already served on the Council for four years and is a development officer with the Manx Heritage Foundation. She is well known on the Manx music scene as a performer and for her work with the Yn Chruinnaght Festival.
Alex Brindley is a radio journalist and is passionate about music and theatre. He believes the arts have a crucial role to play with youth work and social integration.
Phillip Chadwick, architect and partner in Savage and Chadwick, was chairman of the Sayle Gallery during its transition to its new location in the Villa Colonnade.
David Wertheim, an experienced businessman, was instrumental in bringing the successful Forced Journeys exhibition to the Sayle Gallery.
They will replace retiring Members Sam Alder, Arthur Bawden and Margaret Claydon.
Mr Cretney continued: "I am delighted that these four people have agreed to serve on this voluntary body and, together with the current four members, I have every confidence in their ability to continue to develop the arts and to serve our community at large."
The four people will take up their positions on October 1.
