by isleofman.com 27th September 2010

Three squads of seven shooters contested the final leg of the Sporting Summer League competition sponsored by Manx Petroleums at Meary Veg on Sunday morning.

The shoot was held in dry, warm conditions with only a light easterly breeze to contend with.

After all three squads had completed the layout of 50 targets it was John Moore who took the high gun prize with a score of 40/50.

Stan Cross was only one point behind on 39 while Arthur Hayes took third place with 36.

The handicap winner and the recipient of the rose bowl with 55 points was Paul Magee following a nerve-wracking shoot-off against Moore.

Mike Walker finished in second position with 52 and Rob Marshall third on 49 points.

Robert Watterson took the juniors prize, with Hannah Cross in second place, while Jackie Clague took the veteran’s honours beating Roy Christian and Richard Radcliffe into second and third places respectively.

This coming Sunday it is the final leg of the DTL League, commencing at 10am.
