Dr Emerson on 'complex' public health issue

Could people be paid to give up smoking or lose weight?

It's an idea which has been put forward by the United Kingdom health body NICE as a way of tackling two growing problems.

Public health consultant on the Isle of Man Dr Paul Emerson says more evidence would be needed to show that any such scheme would work, before it could be introduced.

He says the issue is a complex one:
