Cav gives Commonwealths commitment

Mark Cavendish has confirmed, barring injury in this week's World Road Race Championships in Melbourne, he will definitely represent the Isle of Man at the Commonwealth Games.

The 25-year-old Manx cycling star says he hasn't been fazed by the reports of problems with accommodation (which hasn't affected the Manx team),security or health and safety.

Representing the Isle of Man at the Commonwealths is a big thing for him.

He says, "I am very proud to have a Commonwealth gold medal back home and I'd like to get another one in a few days' time."

Cav has been in touch with the Isle of Man team's general manager Trevor Taubman and has promised he will be there for the road race.

Manx Radio's sports editor Tim Glover, who in Delhi for the games, says that's great news for the squad:
