Firms appointed to work on Laxey regeneration

by isleofman.com 24th September 2010

THE Laxey Regeneration Committee has selected architectural practice Dalrymple Associates and multi disciplinary company Chrysalis to work on the public consultation and development of the regeneration proposals for the village.

The move follows the committee’s recent invitation of expressions of interest from consultancies to undertake further work on the Laxey regeneration.

The appointment of the consultants is subject to the formal agreement of the Chief Minister’s Regeneration Steering Group, but it is hoped that a wide and open consultation with residents, businesses, retailers and community groups will start early next month.

The Laxey Regeneration Committee was established in autumn 2009.

It is chaired by Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan - who is MHK for Garff - and comprises Laxey Commissioners Sue Jones and Glen White with business and community representatives  Stewart Clague, Richard Henthorn, Julie Pincent, Conor Sullivan, Joan Charnock, Tony Pass and Mark Cleator.

The committee has met regularly and has been working hard to identify and consider ideas and suggestions for the regeneration of Laxey.

Mr Rodan said: "I'm very pleased to see regeneration moving forward in Laxey and there will be plenty of opportunity to bid for funding which will hopefully bring about real changes in the physical environment for local people and visitors."
