Fundraising event for Paralympic hopeful

by isleofman.com 23rd September 2010

A FUNDRAISING event is being held tomorrow (Friday) to raise money for a Paralympic hopeful from St Johns.

Arnie’s Joggers are holding a pub quiz at the Legion Pub in Peel at 8pm on September 24.

Money will be raised for horse rider Rowan Caley who is aiming to secure a place in the Great Britain dressage team at the 2012 Paralympics.

Rowan, 29, defied doctors when she was told she would never walk again after breaking her neck in a car accident 10 years ago.

Rowan said: "We’re hoping to raise enough money for a training trip to the UK and any more is a bonus."

Teams of up to six people can take part by turning up on the night. There will also be a raffle.
