Jail for taxi fare dodger

by isleofman.com 22nd September 2010

A man who ran off after taking a taxi from Ramsey to Douglas will still have to pay the fare – when he’s released from jail.

Mark James Corrin admitted obtaining services by deception when he appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Alastair Montgomery.

The 20 year-old, of Stanley Terrace, failed to pay the driver ?38 for the journey in August.

He was jailed for 60 days and a 30-day suspended sentence imposed earlier this year was activated, meaning he’ll serve a total of 90 days.

He was ordered to pay the fare on his release.
