Trevor Baines has been committed to the Court of General Gaol by the deputy high bailiff.

The 71 year-old, of Woodbourne Road in Douglas, faces 10 counts of theft.

He was granted technical bail by Alastair Montgomerie.

Reporting restrictions were not lifted.

His wife, 52-year-old Wendy Nicolau Baines, faces 10 similar charges, and was committed on one of them.

She is alleged to have stolen a credit balance of ?65,000 - the property of Hermitage Securities Ltd.

Her advocate asked for the remaining nine matters to be adjourned, because she was going to plead 'no case to answer'.

Mrs Baines was granted bail and reporting restrictions were not lifted.

Mr Montgomerie adjourned the remaining matters until next Tuesday.
